Antique Malayer Handwoven Rug
This antique Persian Malayer rug (circa 1900–1930) is a beautifully balanced 5’0″ x 6’3″ piece with a richly saturated brick-and-barn red field organized by an allover lattice of scrolling vinery and small rosettes. Deep navy-to-ink blues sharpen the patterning, while soft ivory/almond highlights add crisp contrast, and the corners introduce a gentle shift into sage-and-moss greens that gives the composition extra depth. Multiple borders—dense with floral devices and rhythmic geometry, including a classic Herati border—frame the interior like an architectural surround, creating a rug that feels both collected and highly livable: warm, graphic, and easy to place in living rooms, studies, or layered interiors.
PANTONE shades: We do our best to find the closest match to one or multiple colors in the rug. The shade card we choose may not always be the perfect one, but we do our best (it’s a lot of work)! At times we may show multiple shade cards so you can get a better sense of color. Finally, when photographing rugs from the same group (shipment, collection, SKU, etc.) we will often use one or two shade card(s) so that you can get a good sense of the coloration. Hope you enjoy viewing our beautiful rugs!
