Antique Shirvan Kilim Handwoven Rug
$5,500.00
Handwoven in the Shirvan region of the East Caucasus during the late 19th century (1880/1890), this antique wool kilim is arranged in rhythmic horizontal bands filled with stepped diamonds, hooked forms, and small geometric motifs. Its beautifully aged palette brings together muted coral, deep indigo, soft blue, ivory, olive, ochre, and dark brown, with subtle shifts in color and drawing that reveal the hand of the individual weaver. Measuring 4’9″ x 10’3″, it retains remarkably strong color and is in very good condition for its age—a finely woven and highly decorative example of Caucasian flatweave tradition.
PANTONE shades: We do our best to find the closest match to one or multiple colors in the rug. The shade card we choose may not always be the perfect one, but we do our best (it’s a lot of work)! At times we may show multiple shade cards so you can get a better sense of color. Finally, when photographing rugs from the same group (shipment, collection, SKU, etc.) we will often use one or two shade card(s) so that you can get a good sense of the coloration. Hope you enjoy viewing our beautiful rugs!
